Friday, English 10

Today we went to the library and chose an autobiography, biography, or memoir. You may get this book from any library or bookstore. The person you choose must be someone positive. The question you answer when you do the book report will be "How has this person influenced the world? How have they 'changed the world' in a positive way? How does this compare to Animal Farm (which we are reading as a class)?"
You may not choose someone who is infamous or best remembered for drugs, alcohol, illegal actions/crimes, etc. No members of the "27 Club" will be allowed.

Your homework: read the Allegory of the Cave. Make sure you can answer the following questions:
1. What is an allegory?
2. What difference does translation make?
3. What was Plato's bias?
4. Who is Socrates?
5. Who is Glaucon? Why is he in the story?
6. What makes an apology different than apologia?
7. Know what the cave looks like.
8. How is the blue copy different than the yellow copy?
You can download another copy HERE.
