You should have the TITLE, AUTHOR, THESIS, and GOOD SETUP paragraph (3 good sentences). Don't leave your Shaefer paragraphs hanging out to dry.
Write about Huck Finn’s best friend. Is Tom Huck’s best friend? Is Buck Huck’s best friend? Is Jim Huck’s best friend? Support your answer with quotes. Use 2 quotes per body paragraph, six quotes total.
Write about a time your pretended to be someone you were not. Compare your own experiences to Huckleberry Finn’s and use quotes and examples of disguises from the book. Don’t write too much about yourself, write primarily about Huckleberry Finn.
Write about a time when someone you knew was in “forbidden” relationship. Compare their experience with Sophia and Harney. Use quotes and examples from the book, at least 2 per paragraph. In this case, you should set up Huckleberry Finn’s experience in the first 2 paragraph’s, your own comparison in paragraph 3, and then tie them together in the last paragraph.
Write about a family in a feud. Compare them to the Shepherdsons and Grangerfords. You would use a modern, famous comparison and compare them to the feud in Huckleberry Finn. In this case, you would set up Huckleberry Finn’s feud, and then use the modern fued, and then tie it together in the fourth paragraph.
Write about a time when someone close to you died. What was it like for you and for the people close to you. This would be similar to the death of Buck Grangerford for Huckleberry Finn. Compare this and use quotes.

What are we doing this week in English?
What is a CRT?
Why do I take one EVERY YEAR?? (No, seriously?!)
What other "assessments" have we had besides the CRT this year?
We will be reviewing what the CRT looks like.
How is the CRT graded? When will I get my scores back?
We will look at this article in Time magazine and discuss informational questions it will ask.
We'll discuss the reading/writing questions on the CRT.
NEXT week, Flex will start.

Speak out against the designated hitter!
Today you should be working with the McDougal-Littel text book. It's purple, and it's on the floor next to the east wall.
You should start with The Writing Connection on page 198. Choose a person or issue and write about something important, a person or issue that changed your life; something that you chose to do that you might otherwise never have done.
After you have done The Writing Connection, you'll look on page 209. You'll be creating an advertisement for something at THS. This is for anything that occurs here: sporting, dramatic, academic, extra-curricular, teacher, class, project. It could be a club, or a play, or an intramural event. Your job is to sell it to our class. Working with a group of 2 or 3 people, create an advertisement. Come up with a way to market, sell, and deliver the product (this event) to your audience (THS) at large. What would you do? There's 11x17 paper. You can create a billboard on that paper, or you can create a marketing scheme on that paper. You should have a creative jingle (or blurb) and it should be good enough that I will give you serious points for it.
If your group creates a good marketing plan and you're willing to move on, you may want to then start reading on page 221 (the story starts on 222 "Montgomery Boycott"). I won't be giving you any more time to do the advertisement. So, be happy with the time you had, and make sure you turn in for credit your personal writing and your group advertisement.
Your HOMEWORK is to get your book for your book report!! Don't forget!!

You are going to read someone else's paper. What do you wish you knew? What do you wish they had included? What do you wish they would add? Be kind in your questions, but ask new questions. What details do you wish they would include? Think who, what, when, where, why, how?
Last the best of all...
